Spring Fever in February

Image
The weather has been absolutely beautiful around here! Things perked up quite a bit on Thursday and the weekend was completely gorgeous, even genuinely warm. Despite my homework load, I got out and enjoyed the weather and had a chance to do lots of fun things. On Friday night, Kris and I met up with his brother and sister-in-law and had a delicious dinner at an Ethiopian restaurant on Capitol Hill. Saturday included a photo adventure to Alki Beach to catch the sunset and some night shots of the Seattle skyline. Kris and I did that with my friend Andrew and a couple of other people, and everyone got great shots. We also all went out to dinner at the Porterhouse in West Seattle, and the food and beer were very tasty. Sunday was wonderful. I slept in decently late, and then Kris and I trekked to the PCC by his house and picked up some breakfast fixings and some Caffe Vitta coffee (that stuff is the BEST). Kris laid out a blanket on the back porch of his place and we had our coffee, some o...

"What time is it? It's Valentime's!"

Kris and I decided to celebrate Valentine's Day last night, since we're both leaving town for the long weekend and won't be together on the actual day. So, I went over to his house in my fancy black silk shirt and gave him a cute card that I had picked up in France because I thought it would be the perfect V-Day card (planning ahead, as usual) and Kris came home from work with a beautiful bouquet of mixed flowers and some delicious chocolate. But that's not the best part. The best part happened when we were cooking dinner. I had picked out a few recipes from my French cook book for us to try, and putting everything together went great. Kris and I both like cooking, and I think we make a good team in the kitchen. I'm the frantic multi-tasking one and he's the calm, cool, & collected one, haha. Anyway, the salad was made, the casserole was in the oven, and dessert was being put together. After checking on it three or four times, we finally decided that the egg...

Macro Photography Fun

These are from Kris and my latest photo adventure. We explored the Volunteer Park Conservatory and took macro shots of the flowers! Super fun!! So, I've been going to the UW's unofficial French Club's conversation hour on Thursday nights, which have been GREAT, but it's been terrible to realize that I'm losing little bits of my French! I've only been back for six weeks! Speaking French once a week for an hour is not enough, but I'll take it over nothing. At least I stil have plenty of opportunities to read French and watch French movies until I either a) take another French class that's actually taught in French, b) get back over there, or c) BOTH. :) I'll forever keep working at it as much as I can!! Anyway, all is otherwise well. Winter quarter is HALF OVER! Holy crap, that's insane. I'm keeping busy, as I like to, and am looking forward to my two-week Spring Break next month!
