January happenings

So far in 2012, I've been having a wonderful time. It's so great to have Kris here in Seattle with me; we're always having adventures! Here are a few pictures:

What a beautiful day!!

I'm a bit more of an angel :)

That's Kris way up there!
I made it all the way up, too!

Kris' birthday was this past Monday (29 again! haha). I took Friday off of work and then I had Monday off for the MLK holiday, so we had a great weekend 'stay-cation' elsewhere in Washington. We spent Friday skiing/snowboarding at Crystal Mountain. Kris has a good friend who owns a cabin there. We enjoyed spending Thursday night catching up with his friend and his friend's girlfriend and then skiing together on Friday. It was such a gorgeous day, pretty much Spring Skiing weather! You could see Mt. Rainier, Mt. Saint Helens, Mt. Adams, Mt. Baker, and the Olympics. Super amazing!

On Saturday, we drove to Wenatchee, WA, where we spent the rest of the weekend. Neither of us had ever been to Wenatchee before, so we decided to explore a new place. We also visited Leavenworth and loved seeing the "Bavarian City" all snowy and lit up with winter lights! This weekend was randomly their "Bavarian Ice Fest", so we got to see all sorts of festivities: fireworks, tug-of-war competitions, a rail-jam, and a pack of sled dogs! We hit tons of snow driving over Steven's Pass and Snoqualmie Pass. Luckily, Kris is great at driving in snow and he has the right car and tires for it, so we did just fine. I was just glad that I was in the passenger seat and not behind the wheel!

Seattle was hit by a snowstorm this weekend and we really got slammed with another round last night. The UW was closed for the day and they'll be closed again tomorrow because of all the snow! I still have to work from home, but it's great to be able to sleep in and make a leisurely day of it. Kris and I headed into Magnuson Park to play in the snow for a while; I walked, ran, and made snow angels while Kris skated around a bit on his cross-country skis. How often can you say you went cross-country skiing in the middle of Seattle?? :)
